MEDAL OF HONOR / AIRBORNE REVIVED

REVIVED 1.4 / FIELD GUIDE

INPUT SETTINGS TWEAKING

Owner-supplied Revived 1.4 setup notes and illustrated configuration steps.

Input settings tweaking

In-game

The game lets you set most options in-game, but we strongly recommend tweaking some values only from the config files.

Before you start tweaking, we recommend you:

  • Set your desired key bindings in-game, under *Options → Controls*
  • Move the *Mouse Sensitivity* slider in-game to the lowest setting.

Config

The input options are found in the game config file MOHAInput.ini that you can find in the *Documents → EA Games → Medal of Honor Airborne(tm) → Config* folder.

First exit the game, then edit the file using Notepad or the text editor of your choice.

After finishing tweaking, make sure you create a copy of this file! The game has a bug where this gets reset everytime there is a DST change (Daylight Savings Time) in your time zone, so practically twice a year. At the end of this guide, we'll show you how to restore your copy.

Field Of View (FOV)

For legacy reasons, the default FOV of the game is set in the MOHAInput.ini file in several locations. The Revived game changed the default FOV to 90.

If you want to change the default FOV to your desired value, do a Search&Replace in the file, and change fov 90 to something, e.g. fov 100.

The OG had a default FOV of roughly 72 on 16:9 monitors. Most pro players use FOV of 100 or 110.

Mouse Sensitivity

To tweak mouse sensitivity, first make sure that the in-game *Mouse Sensitivity* slider is at the lowest setting.

Then open the file and make sure bEnableMouseSmoothing is set to false. You'll find a value MouseSensitivity close to that. It is 35.00 by default. You can adjust that to reach your desired "true sensitivity", i.e. how much you want to move your mouse to perform a full 360 degree turn.

The game is fairly high-paced, so most players use a sensitivity between 10-15 cm (4-6 inches)m but your mileage may vary.

Because the game requires a restart every time you want to change the MouseSensitivity config option, if you have a gaming mouse with adjustable DPI, we recommend tweaking that first to find your desired sensitivity, as you can do that without restarting the game. Do NOT adjust the in-game sensitivity slider, keep it on the lowest value.

If you have a fairly high resolution monitor (anything above 1080p) and a gaming mouse, the granularity won't be enough to aim "pixel-perfectly" with these high sensitivity values. To compensate for that, we recommend this workflow:

  • Use the mouse driver to find your optimal sensitivity, let's say you find 600 DPI comfortable.
  • Then, find the highest DPI that your mouse works flawlessly with (without "interpolation") but you can still use the cursor with. For some mice, this may be 1600, 2500 or 3200. For most modern Logitech mice, we recommend 3200. It all depends on your mouse's sensor.
  • Then, raise your mouse's DPI to that, while simultaneously lowering the MouseSensitivity config option.

For example, if you found 600 DPI to be comfortable in game with the default MouseSensitivity, but your mouse would be still flawless on 3200 DPI, then perform these calculations:

  • 600 / 3200 = 0.1875
  • 35.00 * 0.1875 = 6.5625

So, set your mouse to 3200 DPI and the MouseSensitivity config option to 6.5625. This should result in the same sensitivity, but much better granularity.

If you're still not comfortable with your sensitivity, repeat this cycle. Adjust your mouse's DPI, and then recalculate the MouseSensitivity config option so you can set your mouse's DPI back to its flawless setting (e.g. 3200).

Either way, do NOT adjust the in-game sensitivity slider, keep it on the lowest value, because that would make it impossible to do this recalculation.

Toggle Ironsights

By default, the Ironsights key works as "Hold", so you are in Ironsights mode as long as you are holding that key. To change that to Toggle, so to press once to get in Ironsights mode, and press again to get out, find this line in the config:

Bindings=(Name="Ironsights",Command="Button bAim")

And change it to this line, the difference is only the Toggle word:

Bindings=(Name="Ironsights",Command="Toggle bAim")

Reverse weapon switching order

The mouse scroll wheel implicitly works as Weapon Switch, and you can't change that in the in-game menu. For some, the weapon order (when you have 3 weapons, you can't have more) is counter-intuitive, so it's possible to reverse the order. Find these lines in the config file:

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollDown",Command="SwitchPreviousWeapon | PCZoomOut")

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollUp",Command="SwitchWeapon | PCZoomIn")

Swap them for these lines:

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollDown",Command="SwitchWeapon | PCZoomOut")

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollUp",Command="SwitchPreviousWeapon | PCZoomIn")

Also these lines:

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollDown",Command="SwitchPreviousWeapon | PCZoomOut",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollUp",Command="SwitchWeapon | PCZoomIn",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

Swap them for these lines:

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollDown",Command="SwitchWeapon | PCZoomOut",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

Bindings=(Name="MouseScrollUp",Command="SwitchPreviousWeapon | PCZoomIn",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

You have to change both of the above.

Reverse ironsights walk

By default, in Ironsights mode, the movement keys work as leaning / peeking. You have to hold Shift (or Run) to move in Ironsights mode instead of leaning. Some players find this confusing, so it's possible to reverse this behavior. Find these two lines close to each other:

Bindings=(Name="SprintIronsightsMove",Command="Button bSprint | EnableIronsightsWalk | onrelease DisableIronsightsWalk",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

...

...

...

Bindings=(Name="Ironsights",Command="Button bAim",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

Swap them for these lines. Note that you may have to write Toggle bAim instead of Button bAim if you also did the Toggle Ironsights tweak above.

Bindings=(Name="SprintIronsightsMove",Command="Button bSprint | DisableIronsightsWalk | onrelease EnableIronsightsWalk",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

...

...

...

Bindings=(Name="Ironsights",Command="Button bAim | EnableIronsightsWalk",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

Fast reload trick

The game has a weird bug that if you completely empty the magazine of one of your weapons, you switch to another weapon, and you get the "empty" weapon back, you will get it back fully reloaded.

It is possible to exploit this bug using the scroll wheel only, or set up a dedicated button to exploit it. Example:

Bindings=(Name="ThumbMouseButton",Command="SwitchWeapon | SwitchPreviousWeapon",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=True,BindPos2=True,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

Put these lines around the end of the file, but above [IniVersion]! You can use any button instead of ThumbMouseButton. Browse this file to find the names for each button.

Quick zoom trick

There is no Binocular gadget in the game, but using this trick, you can have a quick zoom feature built into any weapon. The downside is that this is incompatible with the way Revived sets the FOV (see above). So first you have to undo those:

  • Look for | fov 90 in the file, there should be two occurrences
  • Remove | fov 90 from those lines, but keep rest of the line!

Then add this binding to the end of the file, but above [IniVersion]:

Bindings=(Name="Q",Command="fov 20 | onrelease fov 90",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=False,BindPos2=False,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

Make sure you also adjust fov 90 in this line to your desired FOV set above. So if you use FOV 110, change this line to contain fov 110 as well.

The downside is that after each map load, you will have to press this button once to change to your desired FOV instead of the default 72.

Restoring a copy

As mentioned above, once you finished tweaking, make a copy of your MOHAInput.ini.

If you notice that your key bindings have been reset (usually after a DST change), do the following:

  • Open the (now reset) MOHAInput.ini, scroll to the bottom and find these:

[IniVersion]

0=1675683758.000000

1=1675126866.000000

  • The exact numbers will vary. Copy those three lines.
  • Open your copy of the file, find the same three lines, and replace them with the lines you copied.
  • Save your copy.
  • Copy your copy and overwrite MOHAInput.ini with that.
